WHY VOTE MARCO?
Hope you can help me be the first Filipino torch bearer for the first time since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. It is said that the first and only time a Filipino held the torch was during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics 44 years ago. If he doesn't carry it now, we may not have a Filipino in the next 50 years as it may take awhile again before the Olympics are held in Asia. Winning an Olympic gold has been elusive for the Philippines. This is an opportunity to unify all Filipinos towards a single golden Olympic cause.
Should I get chosen, I will take it as an opportunity to promote China to the Philippines and vice versa. There is truly more to China than the Great Wall, it is after all one of the earliest civilizations, and China has a lot of unique and interesting things to share the world. This is probably why despite over a year of exploring, you just can't get enough of China.
Why vote Marco?
Marco embodies the Olympic spirit of constant exploration and striving for excellence and has made contributions to the building of a harmonious society.
1. Marco believes in the Olympic spirit - as a natural athlete, he believes in sports and the need for a healthy mind and body and in fact excels in volleyball (captain of his college team), badminton (has won several amateur tournaments) and tennis. He has also done sports anchoring work as he is very, very knowledgeable about sports.
2. Marco strives for excellence in anything he puts his heart to. He longs to go "Citius, Altius, Fortius" whether it be at work, in school (a Dean's Lister as well as being President of the Student Council) and doing social community work (Project Chairman - Junior Chamber of the Philippines, Katipunan Chapter) .
3. Marco is a member of the Philippine Jaycees and was a Director for Business of the Katipunan Jaycees Chapter which won the "Best New Chapter in Metro Manila, the Philippines, Asia Pacific and in the World" for community works that supported the environment, cancer patients and street kids.
4. Marco supports the Games and has in fact seen several Goodluck Games.
5. Marco is very passionate about his love for China and Beijing and its culture and history. He continues to explore the city almost every weekend and posts them online to share with his countrymen in the Philippines. I don't think there is a place he hasn't seen in Beijing: Cuandixia, Luguo Qiao, Underground City, Qianmen, Yuanmingyuan and the list goes on and on.
6. Marco as a Marketer of M Moser helps to ensure designs created in China likewise influence the rest of the world.
7. Marco is also a very proud Filipino and proud of showing to China the Filipino's talents and capabilities.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Go for the GOLD!
